Foto Friday

Building work is full steam ahead again there’s brick dust everywhere, finishing the visual diary reviews from Masterclass III and with registration opening for People Imagery I’ve not had time to put much together for Foto Friday so I thought I’d just share a few images with you.

Where do you think this is?  I must admit that I think its kinda hot :D

Yep …… Beijing Olympics.  There’s been lots of discussion on what this lot would cost?

There’s at least 23 cameras – loads of Canon L-Series EF and Nikkor AF-S 500mm super telephoto lenses—each around £6,000 a pop—, a few 400mm, 600mm, 700mm, 800mm here and there. Let’s assume a conservative average of £4,500 per telephoto lens.  Most of them are probably using the biggest and baddest Canon and Nikon cameras, so we can assume an average £5,000 price tag per camera, which brings the grand total to just under a quarter of a million pounds.  Crazy !!

Apparently there were 1,100 accredited photographers at the olympics, which we can assume will have more than just one set of lenses and, at least, one secondary camera, just in case the first one breaks or they want to have two different set of lenses ready to shoot at any time. My calculator doesn’t have enough naughts to do that sum.

These shots of the beach huts at Scarborough were taken by Paul on the last Masterclass, he’s a Canon guy but certainly didn’t need anything like the above to capture these awesome shots :)

This picture did make me laugh………….

I would like to clarify this lady is not nor has she ever been one of my students :)

People Imagery Registration Time

PEOPLE IMAGERY

Starts: 5 September 2008

Fee: £30

While its not essential that you have already taken the 10 week Painting with Light Workshop it can help. That way you’ll have an understanding of creative techniques and how the workshops flow as this is fast paced specialised course. There won’t be time to explain and learn the basics. Photography pretty much dominates my life at work and at home. I’m either talking about it, writing about it, reading about it or my most fave thing of all is actually doing it ! Over the last thirty years i’ve tried just about every type of photography there is but my passion has always been for people.

Portraiture is so much more than pointing your camera at your subject and pressing the shutter. Yes, you need to know how to use your camera and an understanding of the principles of photography but equally as important is your ability to relate to people. You’ll get the best out of your subject by putting them at ease in what is generally an unnatural situation for them. The aim of this workshop is to inspire and educate by giving you additional skills and confidence to create images that stop you in your tracks. During this four week workshop we will cover the best possible light, posing, candid imagery and action shots. There is a private forum for photographers to share images, inspiration and receive feedback or you can work along at your own pace. All this for a mere £30 !

Don’t dither as this is the last planned workshop this year.

You will need to have access to models of the human kind
I just love this image taken by Jan from the last Masterclass Workshop – don’t think this chap has ever flossed do you ?

All the Fun of the Fair

What is it with the male of the species and cars !!

Ethan, Theo & Evan drove harder and faster than the adults

I dread the thought of eight years in the future when Theo can legally get behind the wheel

I thought I’d experiment a little with the post production of these shots – a little ‘acid wash’ to give them a vintage feel – I think it works

The lighting was terrible, but with a little custom white balance, high ISO and fast lens I managed to get some OK shots – this is when reading the camera manual really pays off :D
