Weekend Away

Brian planned a surprise grown-up weekend away to Bruges and arranged for the boys to spend a few days with obliging grandparents (thanks Mum & Dad). We took a 40 min BA flight early Friday morning from Heathrow to Brussels, then it was first class by train to Bruges where we checked into the gorgeous 4* Relais Oud Huis Amsterdam. We had a stunning room overlooking the canal and the weather couldn’t have been better Friday & Saturday.

We did most of the typical touristy things including the canal boat trip and walked for miles & miles

One of the highlights of the trip was the discovery of belgian waffles – devine – I will be seriously hunting for a waffle maker

Sunday started a bit wet so although I’m not a chocolate person but we did visit the Huis de Croon Museum (choc museum) and watched pralines being made. Then we returned to Brussels & took the City Bus tour. We had no idea how impressive the Atomium was at 335 feet tall.

To finish here’s a self portrait at the Lake of Love with my old romantic husband

That’s a RAP

Last night we had the Rap Party for the ONLINE PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP.

I set some fun photo challenges, like a photo while reading the camera manual in the style of one of the modules !

Manual

Three things that they couldn’t live without

Bernie couldn’t resist a little sucking up :) Works for me (latest issue of Scrapbook Inspirations)

The final challenge was a photo of their favourite body part – again Bernie outdid herself

Parts

her fingers just happened to be pointing to a photo of yours truly – she won a spot prize for the sheer audacity

Then Gill pulled out all the stops with this crazy image ! She’s mad as a badger & a cracking photographer to boot.

There was also www scavenger hunt that the lovely Louise produced. It was a great way to end the workshop, hard to believe that its over already, 10 weeks just whizzed by. Now I need to concentrate on writing the next workshop.

The boys were both happy and sad. Happy that there’s no school for six and a bit weeks but sad that a certain very special teacher will not be back at Warren next year
