Lagotel Club, Majorca – Family Holiday

I have not been to Majorca since my first holiday abroad with the girls when I was seventeen (just a few years ago then). This time around it’s a very different experience with my husband, two children and a First Choice Family Holiday. As always there were tons of activities for the boys with the highlight being the Reebok Football Academy with three crazy mad UEFA qualified coaches, like when they turned the sprinklers on at the end of the session.

We had gorgeous weather and spent most of our time in or around the pool, which is unheard of for me as I have a real problem with chlorine. It stings my eyes, ruins the little sense of smell I do have and completely kills my taste buds for several hours after encountering it. My very own kryptonite but fear not the Lagotel has two pool areas with one being salt water – heaven ! The boys seem to grow webbed feet and gills when they are around water and it’s almost impossible to get them out of it.

Brian taught Theo how to dive in a couple of hours and I was despatched to get my camera and video him in action. Funny how the camera’s OK when it suits the boys.

Most evenings we wandered down to Port d’Alcudia for dinner in one of the many yummy restaurants which was followed by a stroll around the marina with an ice cream (my fave was ferrero rocher Theo loved the bubblegum, Ethan was keen on the Red Bull and Brian loved them ALL)

Like true Brits abroad they had to watch the opening match of the season in a bar . . . . (excuse the iPhone quality snapshot)

The day after Theo learnt how to dive we went to the beach where all three of them thought it would be great fun to dive off the pier – I was a nervous wreck but somehow managed to record the action while my stomach was in knots . . .

I’m quite pleased with the video quality of the Canon 5D MkII even though the last video is not so good as they were actually dots on the horizon until I zoomed in during edit. I think I might to start to play some more seeings Ethan & Theo like the idea of video far more than stills.

It was Brian that came off twice which of course we teased him terribly about. Gosh it seems so long ago already.

Birthday Boy

My baby boy is 11 today but instead of having a special day eating lots of yummy cake and going karting he spent most of it with his head down the toilet ! Poor Theo

No photos to mark the day so I dug out this picture from his 1st birthday.

I made this little video to try and cheer him up when he is feeling a little better – Happy Birthday darling

Thurrock FC Presentation Evening

Last Friday was Theo’s football presentation evening – the league trophy is the nicest one I’ve seen – go Lions !

Brian took Theo to the Golf Live event on saturday. They had a good day but the highlight for Theo was meeting Vernon Kay ! He does a really great impersonation of the Family Fortunes host but was too shy to do it for him.

Theo’s football team, Thurrock Panthers U11′s won their division yesterday

This is a remarkable achievement as it’s their first year playing 11-a-side, with the huge goals and that ‘off side rule’ They will now be promoted to the Premier League for next season – well done boys. All the boys enjoyed the champagne celebrations but most were not so keen on the taste of it.

Happy St. George’s Day

As it’s a World Cup year Theo is turning into quite a patriot and was very disappointed that it is St. George’s Day and it wasn’t even mentioned at school today. So turning this to my advantage with the mere mention of new facebook profile pictures he put his England kit on and grabbed a flag to mark the occasion.

I like this quote from Ricky Gervais “Today is St. George’s Day. That’s the one day of the year that we all ignore in case someone thinks we’re racist”. It’s madness !

Mine on Monday – Walking Wounded !

Or should that read limping wounded ! Ethan injured himself while playing football, which is nothing unusual but this time he ended up in A&E with a referral to the fracture clinic. Apparently he has injured his Right Anterior Superior Illiac Spine and Inferior Spine Muscle ! In laymans terms his muscle is detached from the hip, which is common in growing children that are sporty. The only treatment is rest (he must not even think about kicking a football for 6-12 weeks) and return to clinic in four weeks when hopefully there will be a vast improvement in his mobility. If he doesn’t follow doctors orders or it doesn’t repair itself he may have to undergo further treatment.

To make him feel even worse, Chafford Youth F.C. had a cup game yesterday and had to play the match with 10 players – unfortunately they were just beaten by a rival team boooo.

I love the school holidays ! There are no arguments about reasonable bedtimes and no rushing around like a wild thing in the morning. Life is just that bit more relaxed.

The men in my life chose to be Arsenal supporters while I grew up in Green Street and therefore am a fervent West Ham supporter. I recently came across this picture of Ethan taken in 2007 – he had been messing around and as his penance I made put on his friend Sam’s West Ham shirt so I could take a photo and pretend at least one of my boys followed my team. This is particularly topical as WHU are not doing too well and I’ve been getting a fair bit of stick over it.
